Dramatic Structure: Αυτό που οι συγγραφείς του 'Battlestar Galactica' ξέχασαν να google-άρουν πριν στείλουν για εκτύπωση αυτό το επεισόδιο.
Θα δεχτώ επειδή είμαι καλός άνθρωπος οτι οι σκηνές του Cavil είχαν έστω ένα στοιχειώδες δραματικό ενδιαφέρον. Ο Dean Stockwell γαμάει και δέρνει, και η ιερή μανία με την οποία ο Cavil αγωνιούσε να αποδόσει σε ανθρώπινες λέξεις και συναισθήματα όλους τους λόγους για τους οποίους μισούσε την ανθρώπινή του υπόσταση είχαν έναν κάποιο καθηλωτικό χαρακτήρα.
Αλλά σε γενικές γραμμές το όλο Cavil Ex Machina gimmick το βρήκα ελαφρώς γελοίο όσο περισσότερο το σκεφτόμουν. Και συγγνώμη, αλλά ο πυροβολημένος Sam να μαζεύει γύρω του όποιον είχε εύκαιρο και να τους ξερνάει όλη την κρυφή μυθολογία του show στα διαλείμματα που δεν τον τράβαγε μακριά ο Cottle, ε όχι, δεν είναι ακριβώς η ιδεά μου για το πώς πρέπει να είναι το drama.
Βασικά νομίζω πως το Exposition μόλις απέκτησε ένα νέο όνομα.
Ellen reveals Cavil's first name while talking to him ("John") and tries to persuade him to stop chasing the humans. John says the reason for his chase is justice for what he perceives as enslavement of his ancestors, the legacy centurions from the First Cylon War era.
Due to his brain damage, Samuel Anders experiences visions which reveal the complete origin and purpose of the Final Five to him. Prior to undergoing brain surgery, he tells Tigh, Tyrol and Tory about their lives on Earth. He recounts that the Cylons which were the thirteenth tribe of Kobol began procreating naturally on Earth and finally lost resurrection technology. Anders and the other Final Five were researchers who worked on reinventing the ancient technology.
Sam explains that the Final Five re-developed the ancient resurrection process, and created a resurrection ship in orbit of Earth. When nuclear war against their Centurions destroyed the Earth Colony, the Final Five were killed but resurrected on said ship. They made their way to the Twelve Colonies with the intention of warning the humans against using Centurion labor. Since they lacked FTL technology, they travelled at sub-light but relativistic speeds so that little time passed for them. Having arrived too late, they found the Colonies already engulfed in war with their own Cylon Centurions. In order to stop the First Cylon War, the Five allied themselves with the Colonial Centurions in an attempt to merge their belief in the One God with human traits of mercy and love. The result was the creation of eight humanoid models, and this new development effectively caused the Cylon ceasefire and resulted in their 40 year reclusion. At the mention of eight Cylon models rather than seven, Kara presses Sam to reveal the name of the missing model, thinking it might be her due to her mysterious resurrection. Sam tells her that Number Seven was a male named Daniel. Sam tells the other Five how John Cavil was the first new model they created, but was vengeful and killed them all, replaced their memories, and sent them to live among the humans.
Ellen tells John that she knows he killed Daniel, whom John called "flawed." Ellen tells Boomer how John destroyed the nascent Daniel bodies and ruined the "amniotic sacs" that would have grown more of them. Boomer appears disturbed. John then compliments Ellen on the ad hoc measure of programming the faces of the final five to appear to D'Anna in the temple on the algae planet. Ellen denies programming such events, stating that they retraced the steps of their elders and found the temple on the algae planet, but the appearance of their images must have been an act of the "One God". Cavil then accuses the Final Five of causing the supernova which occurred in the algae planet's system after they found the temple. He uses the event as an illustration of why he hates his body, stating that he was obliged to watch the nova through his limited human eyes, instead of the superior sensory organs he wishes he had. Cavil blames the final five for these limitations and leaves the room in disgust. Boomer then asks Ellen if she does not feel remorse. She replies that she does not, because she gave them free will and the ability to feel compassion. Boomer indicates that she thinks this was an useless act, as she does not know whom to feel compassion towards or whom to love. John informs Ellen about the destruction of the Resurrection Hub by the humans and the rebel Cylons and tells her that she will have to recreate the resurrection technology. She claims that she will need the other Final Five in order to do this.

To κοροϊδεύουμε συχνά το 'Lost' για το γράψιμό του, αλλά ας σκεφτούμε πόσα μας έχουν αποκαλύψει φέτος οι συγγραφείς για το ιδιαίτερα περίπλοκο backstory της σειράς τους σε 5 μόλις επεισόδια, και τι ποσοστό αυτών των αποκαλύψεων έχουν γίνει μέσω συζητήσεων έναντι πράξεων. (Επουσιώδες.)
Βασικά εδώ ένιωσα σαν κάποιος να σφύριξε στον Moore οτι η σειρά κόβεται χθες, και έτσι ο καημένος δημιουργός ενημέρωσε τους φανς για όλες τις απαντήσεις που περίμεναν με ένα podcast του στο site του Sci Fi. Που απλά το έντυσε με εικόνα τριών talking heads.

Daniel: Daddy Starbuck; Κι επίσης, με αυτή τη γυριστή περί "χαμένου 7ου μοντέλου" κλείνει ικανοποιητικά και μια από τις μακροβιότερες απορίες μου για τη σειρά, δηλαδή για ποιο λόγο η Sharon ήταν το #8 αφού εξαιρώντας τους Final Five περίσσευαν μόνο 7 μοντέλα.
